FPS develops new direct Europe-South Africa service

A new direct ocean freight forwarding service between Rotterdam and Durban has been developed by Famous Pacific Shipping (FPS) Rotterdam and FPS South Africa. The new service can handle FCL and LCL shipments as well as part loads, breakbulk cargo and heavy loads such as outsize or project cargo. Shipments are consolidated at the two affiliates’ own facilities in The Netherlands and South Africa.

According to FPS South Africa’s managing director Jacqui Downing, the 22-day transit time from Rotterdam to Durban is very competitive, and the service can be used as a very effective gateway operation for cargo originating or destined for countries in South and Central Africa, as well as the Indian Ocean Islands.

Jean-Paul van Munster, managing director of FPS Rotterdam, said: “There is no doubt that the prospects for trade between Southern Africa and Europe are still very good. We are confident that our new service offers the connections that the trade needs.”
