RZD to invest in the route to Helsinki
Russian Railways (RZD) is going to invest 60bln rub. in the infrastructure of the Saint Petersburg -Boguslavskaya- Helsinki route, the company informed according to RZD-Partner referring to AK&M.
The project stipulates the building of the new line of 64 km in length and second main between Kamenogorsk and Vyborg. It will permit to raise the cargo shipment to the Vysotsk and Primorsk ports. The building will be finished in 2009-2010. The funding will be provided out of the investment fund of RF.
The agreement on the arrangement of the high velocity railway between Russia and Finland was reached in 2003 between V.putin and R.Halonen.
