SCT takes delivery of quay cranes
Shekou Container Terminals Limited (SCT) in Shenzhen, China, has taken delivery of two new 40-foot tandem quay cranes (QCs) from ZPMC, which are said to be capable of handling two FEU or four TEU simultaneously. A SCT statement said that the QCs can handle the largest containerships arriving at the terminal, pointing out that each of the cranes has a lifting height of 43 metres with a maximum outreach of 65 metres. The spreader has a capacity of 100 tons. The statement added that the company will take delivery of an additional two QCs from ZPMC next month, boosting the number of QCs at SCT to 28.
The company also explained that the operating efficiency of the latest QCs is about 20 to 30 per cent higher than other models and will greatly enhance the terminal's operational performance.
