Throughput of Odessa commercial seaport up 12% in 2007

In 2007, commercial seaport of Odessa 31.368 million tonnes of cargo (+12%, year-on-year), the company informs according to Odesinform. In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo grew by 5.3% to 15.899 million tonnes including 5.65 million tonnes of bulk cargo (+17.1%, year-on-year), 10.83 million tonnes of general cargo (+0.6%). Transshipment of ferrous metal amounted to 5.8 million tonnes (+11.6%), containers – 4.47 million tonnes (+21.3%), bulk ore – 1.15 million tonnes (+22.2%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 19.8%, year-on-year, to 15.47 million tonnes. Transshipment of oil cargo totaled 14.77 million tonnes, oil – 10.674.4 million tonnes.
In December 2007, the company increased its throughput by 17.5%, year-on-year, to 2.74 million tonnes including 1.369 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+23.7%, year-on-year) and 1.365 million tonnes of dry cargo (+12%, year-on-year).
Commercial seaport Odessa is located in the south-western part of Odessa Bay at reclaimed territory covering 109.5 hectares. The capacity of the company’s facilities enables it to handle over 14 million tonnes of dry cargo and 24 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo annually. The port accepts vessels with length up to 270 m and draft up to 13 m. Total length of the berths is over 8 km.
