Rotterdam port sees India expansion this year
The Dutch port of Rotterdam expects to expand into India this year, a senior executive said on Tuesday, but he denied media reports that the port was close to a tie-up with Indian builder Larsen and Toubro Ltd.
"We are investigating several possibilities, more than one possibility," Chief Operating Officer Pieter Struijs told Reuters on the sidelines of a port seminar in Malaysia.
Asked when the port authority expected to finalise its investment plans, he added: "Hopefully this year."
This month, India media said the Dutch port was in talks with Larsen and Toubro for a greenfield port and that a deal could be announced later this month.
But Struijs said the report was not correct. "That is a wrong message. We have no connection with Larsen and Toubro," he said.
