One more Russian shipping company, Sovcomflot, has started transporting hydrocarbons mined in Sakhalin, ITAR-TASS reports according to Vladivostok times.
The company's tanker Viktor Konetsky on Wednesday arrived at the port of De Kastri, Khabarovsk Territory, which had started shipping hydrocarbons from the Chaivo field in the Sea of Okhotsk in the middle of October.
Oil is transported to the port from the offshore field by a 220-kilometre pipeline. Oil is mined by the coastal drilling ring Yastreb and the sea platform Orlan under the Sakhalin-1 project. The American company Exxon Neftegaz Limited is the project operator.
Oil supplies to the world market from offshore fields in the Sea of Okhotsk began in 1999. The oil producing facility Vityaz mined hydrocarbons under the Sakhalin-2 project, and the Primorye Shipping Line and foreign companies shipped them to world markets.
Only Russian shipping lines will transport hydrocarbons under the Sakhalin-1 project. The super tanker Viktor Titov of the Primorye Shipping Line was the first to have been loaded at De Kastri on October 16.
Now Sovcomflot tankers are getting ready to take on oil in this port.
The two shipping lines built five 100,000-tonne tankers for the Sakhalin-1 project. They were chartered by Exxon for 10 years.
