State Customs Service of Ukraine (SCS) is going to introduce automated system to exchange information about containers transported via seaports, SCS’s press center reports according to RBC-Ukraine. The system implies that Customs will be able to receive advance information about cargo accepted by agents of international container lines for transportation to the place of destination. This data is to include information about consignor and consignee, as well as the number, weight and type of container. According to the press center this measure will contribute to prevention of smuggling. The agreement on information exchange is to be signed by the agents of international container lines and Ukraine Customs in the second half of November. Today cargo forwarding in Ukraine is carried out by 6 agents of international container lines.
