Liepaja port handles 3.3 million tons of cargo in 10M06

The port of Liepaja  (Latvia) transshipped 3.329 million tons of cargo in ten months of 2006 (1.8% against year-on-year result, the port reports according to RZD-Partner. Transshipment of dry bulk cargo amounted to 1.309 million tons (+8.4%), including grain and grain products – 746.7 thou tons (+4.4%). Transshipment of general cargo totaled 1.189 million tons (-40.7%), including ferrous metals and products - 573 thou tons (-17.5%). Liquid bulk cargo – 831.4 thou tons (+48.1%), including oil products – 659.6 thou tons (+71.8%) and oil – 156.9 thou tons (+5.4%). The highest result was demonstrated by the following stevedoring companies: Liepаjas osta LM – 1.017 million tons (-8.1%), TransWide Service – 417.1 thou tons (+49.8%) and BBC – 340.3 thou tons (double result). In 2005 cargo turnover of Liepaja port grew by 0.8% to 4.509 million tons.
