German logistics major Dachser major has set up a 50:50 joint venture with Russian express company Intellect Logistic in a bid to take a share of rapidly growing Russian market.
"The joint venture has permitted Dachser to enter a most promising growth market: Russia. According to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian economy is the eleventh largest in the world. In 2006 it grew by 7.4 per cent in real terms," said a company statement.
Together with its partner, Intellect Logistic, Dachser has established its brand as OOO Dachser. It has made Moscow its headquarters and will start with 50 employees.
The new company provides contract and transport logistics for Russian and international customers from trade and industry. Intellect Logistic managing director Anton Maryukhta, 38, becomes the managing director of the new venture.
Before joining Intellect Logistic, Mr Maryukhta worked as logistics manager at McDonalds in Russia and was also responsible for the logistics of Moscow's Revival Express company.
