In January-March, 2008, commercial seaport of Iljichevsk handled 4.8 million tonnes of cargo (+1 million tonnes, or +26%, year-on-year), Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications says according to LIGABusinessInform. In the reported period, the port increased transshipment of general cargo by 48%, year-on-year, to 2.8 million tonnes (mainly containers, ferrous metal, ro-ro cargo and cast iron).
Transshipment of containers amounted to 151,000 ТЕU (up 1.5 times, year-on-year), metal goods - 1 million tonnes (+69%), dry bulk – 1.5 million tonnes (+1%).
Commercial seaport of Iljichevsk is one of Ukraine’s largest ports. It is capable of handling 28.5 million tonnes of cargo.
