Cargo transshipment of Baltic ports totaled 104.4 million tons in January-September 2006, (+4.909 or +4.9% against year-on-year result). 43.4% of total cargo volume was transshipped by Latvian ports, 35.5% - by Estonian ports and 21.1% - by Kithuanian ports. Growth of cargo turnover was the least in Latvian ports - +1%, or +452.3 thou tons to 45.303 million tons. Cargo turnover of Estonian ports grew by 7.2%, or by 2.499 million tons to 37.087 million tons; Lithuanian ports – by 9.8%, or by 1.958 million tons to 22.003 million tons. The highest result was demonstrated by the port of Tallinn – 30.668 million tons (+4.3 against year-on-year result). The second one is the port of Ventspills, which handled 21.984 million tons of cargo within the reported period (-1.4% year-on-year). The third highest result is achieved by the port of Riga – its cargo turnover totaled 19.486 million tons (+6.6% against year-on-year result).
