Special economic zone to be built in port Vostochny

The construction of a special economic zone in the port Vostochny in the area of Nakhodka envisages the creation of 18,000 new jobs for residents of Primorye, head of the administration of Nakhodka Oleg Kolyadin said during a discussion of the project that was held at the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Territory.
According to experts, the port economic zone is to become a communication ground for interaction of Russia with the Asia-Pacific region, Itar-Tass reports. The peculiarity of the given project consists in the fact that it is planned both to build in Vostochny a port zone on favourable terms and create a modern, effective and attractive for trade infrastructure.
Accordingly, it will make it possible to develop trade, transport and logistics schemes. According to the preliminary estimates, the port’s total cargo turnover is to grow up to 90 million tonnes a year by 2020. The territory’s budget revenues will amount to 62 billion roubles. The effect from the project in the port Vostochny may change the economic situation both in Primorye and on the territory of the whole Far East and Siberia.

As ITAR-TASS learnt at the press centre of the Legislative Assembly, the project of the port zone in Vostochny is submitted to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade for an examination. The preliminary total cost of the project is 180 billion roubles. The economic zone is to be put into operation in full by 2020.
