The Tokyo MOU in its 2007 annual report has included Iran in its white list for compliance with the international maritime conventions. More than 175 Iranian ships, flying Iran's flag, have undergone technical and safety inspections within the framework of the Tokyo MOU. The Tokyo MOU deals with monitoring compliance of the ship-owners, classification societies and flag state administrations with the requirements of the international maritime conventions.
Iran's commercial shipping fleet was also included in the white list of the Paris MOU in 2007.
