Norwegian-based Eitzen Chemical is selling four newbuildings on order in South Korea for a total of about US$12m. The vessels 13,000 dwt chemical carriers will be delivered this year with the first expected to be leave the yard in the second quarter. The company will book a total gain of approximately USD 12.5 mill. from the sale. Terje Askvig, Chief Executive said "these four vessels were contracted in 2007 with an opportunistic strategy in mind, and the divestment is coherent with this strategy." Following this sale Eitzen Chemical's fleet will comprise 101 vessels, including 62 owned or financially controlled ships, 22 newbuildings and 17 pool ships.
