The hub will reduce the mileage travelled by depots operating in the North, saving time, cutting fuel costs, reducing the carbon footprint and improving the speed of collections and deliveries.
The development will also give the network an enhanced structure for Scottish deliveries.
The new hub provides a very secure environment for customers’ freight, and will be operated to the same exacting standards employed at Pall-Ex’s flagship premises at Ellistown, Leicestershire.
With health and safety in mind, the hub will be non-drive through, and in keeping with Pall-Ex’s environmental policy, fork lift trucks will operate on gas rather than diesel.
The first pallet is scheduled to be transhipped through the Northern hub at the end of April.
