FCT’s throughput up 30% in H1, to 645,544 TEUs

Half-year freight flows via the First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) amounted to 645,544 TEUs, or 30.6% more than in H1, 2009, the National Container Company press service said. NCC who manages FCT said that July container volume rose to 91,472 TEUs (+24.5% from July 2009).

In June, the terminal transshipped 40,472 TEUs of outbound containerized cargo and offloaded 51,000 TEUs of inbound goods. Refcontainers turnover amounted to 9,187 TEUs.

In July, the terminal handled 78 vessels, the average turnover per vessel – 1,173 TEUs.

National Container Company (NCC) is the largest and leading container operator in Russia. The owners of the NCC in equal shares are the First Quantum Group and the FESCO Transport Group. In 2009 the total volumes via NCC’s containers terminals amounted to some 1.2 million TEUs, contributing 42.1% to overall output at Russian container ports.
