Cargo traffic through Portugal's five biggest ports increased by 9% year-on-year to some 31 million tonnes in the first half of 2010, business daily Jornal de Negocios said on Wednesday. The port of Sines, southern Portugal, registered the biggest volume in absolute terms among the five ports. Cargo traffic there rose by 9% to 12.587 million tonnes in the period. Leixoes, in northern Portugal, came second.
The five harbours account for 98% of Portugal's port operations.
