Ust-Luga Yug-2 takes delivery of a new handling equipment

YUG-2, a multi-purpose transshipment complex at Ust-Luga port received three new Kalmar reach stackers from Finland, Ust-Luga OJSC reports. The Ust-Luga Comp. is engaged in construction of the seaport in the Leningrad region. The imported equipment is designed to handle containers, trailers and for loading and unloading operations in an industrial environment. Reachstackers can carry heavy loads and operate on a small area.

The company’s managers say the new equipment is versatile, reliable and has high-performance.

YUG-2 was built for handling rolling, containerized and general cargoes. The complex covers area of 97.8 ha. The total length of the waterfront piers is 1000 m. The first-phase complex area is 16,7 ha.  At its completion YUG-2’s capacity will allow reception, storage and handling of 4.6 million tons of cargo annually. The projected capacity of the YUG-2’s autos terminal is 450,000 cars a year. The completion of the project is scheduled for 2010.
