Cargo turnover at the port of Arkhangelsk in January-July 2010 increased by 36,5% compared with the same period in 2009, to 2,594,000 tons, PortNews IAA reports citing the Port Authority.
The volume of exported petroleum products rose by 42.2%, to 473.800 tons, coal volume jumped 6.8 times as much, up to 165,700 tons, timber - by 13.7%, to 297,000 tons. Coastal shipments of crude oil dropped nearly in 2,5 times, to 212,400 tons.
Freight flows in July also increased by 2.1 times, to 456.900 tons.
Arkhangelsk, a year-round navigable seaport, is located in the delta of the Northern Dvina River flowing into the White Sea. The Northern Sea Route freight traffic passes through the port’s terminals. Arkhangelsk seaport is transshipping a broad range of cargo: general, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metals, fertilizers, heavy-lift equipment and bulked cargoes. The total capacity of Arkhangelsk port allows handling up to 4.5 million tons of cargo a year. Last year’s throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk shrank by 30.58%, to 3.271.600 tons.
