Exports from the eastern coast port, which ships mostly thermal coal used in power plants, rose from a week ago to 2.19 million tonnes in the week to Aug. 9, Newcastle Port said on its website.
The queue of vessels edged up to 14, compared with 11 a week earlier, while 56 ships were traveling to the port to load coal, the port said.
Waiting time stood at 14.88 days, up from 14.5 days in the preceding week.
