Vostochny (East) Port is the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s throughput exceeds 18 million tons of cargoes. The VP operates 19 berths (4.7km long, depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 meters). The port’s portfolio of assets includes one of the largest Russia's container terminal, a coal terminal and developed warehousing facilities. The Vostochny Port handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and lumber. Its deep waters allow 150-dwt vessels to dock at the port. Last year, Vostochny Port’s throughput was down 8.14% from the 2008’s figures, at 18,941,100 tons.
