China ports’ throughput up 17.4% in Jan-Jul., to 4,57bn tons

Trade flows via China ports increased in January-July 2010 by 17.4% compared with the same period last year, to 4.57 billion tons, the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China press-release said.
 
The seven-month volume includes 3,12 billion tons of freight traffic at sea ports (a 16.6% gain), and 1,44 billion tons at river ports (+19,2%).

Container trade of Chinese ports during the reporting period rose by 22%, to 81.5 million TEUs, including 73,48m TEUs (+21.9%) of seaports volumes and 8 million TEUs (+22.5%) handled by river ports stevedores (+22,5%).
