In the first half of the year, the country’s ports handled 21,971,252 tons of inbound goods, a 8.2-percent gain year-on-year, and 18,654.861 tons of outbound cargoes (+11.2%).
In Jan-Jun, Sköldvik port’s throughput was the largest of the total six-month volume, 7,092,358 tons, but 10% below of the last year’s figures.
Trade flows via Kotka Port in January-June rose by 15,4% from H1, 2009, to 4,425.173 tons, cargo turnover of the port of Helsinki also increased by 11%, up to 5,324.570 tons. Port of Hamina surged by 41,6%, to 1,884.933 tons. Port of Oulu also demonstrated a 11.8-percent rise to 1,381.967 tons of cargo, the AFP statement said.
In 2009 freight flows through seaports of Finland shrank by 17,9% year-over-year, to 78,701.163 tons.
