Containership Co. adds Ningbo Port to its trans-Pacific service

The Containership Company will add the Port of Ningbo to its trans-Pacific service from China to Los Angeles, effective Sept. 10.

The new carrier in April initiated its trans-Pacific service from Taicang, a manufacturing center located about 40 miles northwest of Shanghai, and the Port of Los Angeles.

Starting with vessels of about 2,500-TEU capacity, The Containership Co. upgraded the vessel size to a capacity of 2,900 TEUs. This will allow the line to add Ningbo to the rotation while maintaining the scope of service to Taicang, said Franck Kayser, chief operating officer.

“Ever since we started our first service out of Taicang, our customers have repeatedly asked us to expand our no-frills service concept to other Chinese ports,” he said.

Kayser said the Containership Co. will continue to offer the no-frills port-to-port service that its customers have asked for. The service has a 17-day transit time to the TraPac terminal in Los Angeles.
