The Panama-flagged motor ship Catherine, owned by Armada Chartering Istanbul LTD, took the ground at 04:30 (LT) on August 21 in the Azov-Don canal, the Russian Transport Ministry press service said citing information State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.
The vessel was en route from Rostov-on-Don to Taganrog when she stroke the ground near buoy N43. There were no injuries or oil spill reported. A pusher-tug (of Pharos Transflot) has arrived at the scene to set the ship afloat. The operation is to begin when the canal water level rises at least to 70 cm.
