Hamburg Sud starts new Europe - Mediterranean service

Hamburg Sud will employ five ships with a capacity between 2,500 and 2,700 TEU, including 600 reefer units. The new service will be based on a weekly fix day service Yoram Hoffman, managing director A.M.A. Associated Maritime Agencies Ltd Hamburg Süd's Israel agent , said last week that as of 26th September / beginning of October 2010, Hamburg Süd  will itroduce its newly configured Europe - Mediterranean services. The new service will be based on a weekly fix day service.
The Northern Route (EMNR) and the Europe - East Mediterranean/Israel Service (UKEI), hitherto operated in partnership, as well as the Southern Route (EMSR), will be replaced by new standalone services: the North Europe - South Mediterranean Service (NESM).
 For the NESM service Hamburg Süd will employ five ships with a capacity between 2,500 and 2,700 TEU (nominal), including 600 reefer units.
 The following rotation is to be offered: Felixstowe - Antwerp - Hamburg - Tangiers - Alexandria - Limassol - Ashdod -Mersin - Haifa - Alexandria – Felixstowe.
 The new service configuration provides comprehensive port coverage and fast transit times from and to North Europe. Through the calls in the hub port of Tangiers, Eastern Med locations will be connected to the worldwide service network of Hamburg Süd.
 The first sailings on the new NESM Service are scheduled for 26 September 2010 (southbound) with the "Cap Bizerta" and on 3 October 2010 (northbound) with the "Cap Palmas”.
