Ten vessels of 2,500 TEUs each will be deployed on the route from September 13 with Hanjin and China Shipping both providing four and HMM and CMA CGM one each.
The service covers Shekou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Mexico, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru. It takes 33 days to reach Chile from Busan.
As the newly designed route encompasses East and West Coast of South America, the joint service is expected to boost the companies' economic power in the global market, said a person familiar with the Korean companies.
“We will strive to provide the best service possible to our customers via various routes in the South American region, where potential for sustainable growth lies,’’ he explained.
