The capacity of civil shipbuilding in Russia should not just be rebuilt but built all over again, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told in an interview with Russia 1924 TV channel. Domestic civil shipbuilding was competitive neither during the Soviet nor the post-Soviet era, Mr. Putting said.
"If you start from zero, then it must be done on the most advanced technological level", Russian Prime Minister was quoted as saying. In this case, according to Mr. Putin, it is necessary to attract foreign partners who are leaders in global civil shipbuilding, among whom he named the companies in South Korea and Japan.
At the same time, Putin noted, there was “quite a good shipbuilding” created in the Amur region, which "is working steadily”.
