Maersk raising bunker charges on Med-Australia

Maersk Line on Thursday announced plans to raise its bunker surcharges imposed earlier on the trade between the East Mediterranean and Australia.
Effective Oct. 1, the surcharges for cargo shipped from East Mediterranean ports to Australia will be 525 euros ($770) per TEU and 1,050 euros ($1,540) per FEU, up from 490 euros ($719) and 980 euros ($1,437), the carrier said in a notice to the trade.
In a separate notice, the Danish carrier said it plans to implement a rate increase for cargo moving on its Intra-Asia services, effective Oct. 13.
An increase of $150 per TEU would apply to all shipments from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines to ports in New Zealand, it stated.
