Expected capacity of an alternate route to the Neva river in the Leningrad region is to make 45-46 million tonnes of cargo per year, Leonid Trebnev, Chairman of the Regional Committee on Transport and Transport Infrastructure, told journalists according to RBC. Mr. Trebnev said the project is in demand as the Neva navigation is limited by bridges and public utilities on the river bottom. The project is to be implemented on the principle of public-private partnership. The rout has not been determined yet, a number of variants are under consideration. Feasibility study is tobestarted in 2009.
