Alexander Buzakov named CEO of Admiralty Shipyards

Alexander Buzakov has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of JSC Admiralty Shipyards, the company press service said.

Alexander Buzakov, 56, a graduate of the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute (majoring in marine propulsion systems), joined Leningrad Admiralty Association (now Admiralty Shipyards), where he has advanced in his carrier from technologist to chief engineer of the enterprise.
In 2004 - 2008, he was CEO of Severnaya Verf Shipyard, of Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard. Since 2008, he has headed Western Center of Shipbuilding (sub-holding of United Shipbuilding Corporation).

In July 2011, he tapped as chief engineer of Admiralty Shipyards, and from August he has been interim CEO Admiralty Shipyards.
Admiralty Shipyards JSC (Admiralteysky Verfy) is the oldest Russian shipbuilder, founded back in 1704. The company is part of Western Center of Shipbuilding controlled by United Shipbuilding Corporation. JSC Admiralty Shipyards specializes in design, construction and upgrade of civil vessels and warships for the Russian Navy. To date, the Company has built more than 300 submarines (including 41 nuclear-powered subs) and 68 deep submergence vehicles and ROVs.

The shipyard is now building two series of six submarines of 636.1 Project for foreign customers and of 636.3 project for the Russian Navy. The company conducts on-dock trials of the RV Akademik Treshnikov, being built for the Russian Antarctic Expedition. The newbuilds portfolio includes a salvage ship Igor Belousov with onboard DSV "Bester-1".
