Yuzhny Port cargo volumes slide 0.8 percent to 15, 02 mln tons

Cargo throughput at state-owned Yuzhny Port in January-August 2012 was down 0.8% compared to the same period in 2011, to 15,028,300 tons, the stevedore company said.

In January-August the company handled 131,784 railcars and 579 ships.

State-owned Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long, 14m-deep approach canal. In 2011, the company handled 22,639,100 tons.
