Russia to boost crude exports to APR via Kozmino to 30 mln tons a year, official says
Crude oil shipments to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) via Oil Port Kozmino will total 30 million tons a year in 2013, PRIME reports quoting a Russian Energy Ministry official.
Yuri Sentyurin, Deputy Minister of Energy, who is taking part in the EP-China 2012 show in Beijing said: "This year, we are finalizing the construction of the ESPO Pipeline Phase 2 and, and from 2013, Russia will be able to supply to the market of the Asia-Pacific region through Oil Port Kozmino up to 30 million tons of oil."
The official noted that the volume does not include 15 million tons, supplied through the ESPO, under the Sino-Russian intergovernmental agreement.
The Deputy Minister added that Russia’s crude oil output may reach 512 million tons in 2012, while the expected volume of processed oil can be 262 million tons.
The construction of ESPO-2 started on January 14, 2010, two weeks after commissioning of the ESPO-1, when the first oil cargo was loaded onto a Russian tanker at Kozmino port. The ESPO-2 projected capacity will be 30 million tons of crude oil expandable to 50 mln of crude oil a year.
Upon completion of Kozmino Oil Terminal Phase 2, which includes the construction of the last section of ESPO-2 pipeline, the facility’s annual capacity will be boosted from 15 million tons to 30 million tons of oil. In January-July 2012, the Kozmino Terminal exported to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) 9 million tons of crude oil.
Specialized Marine Oil Terminal Kozmino, operated by Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (a subsidiary of Transneft), was commissioned in late 2009. Port Kozmino is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction oil cargo is delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
