Cargo throughput at the port of Helsinki in January-November 2014 increased by 4% compared to the same period 2013, to 10 million tonnes, the Port Authority press release said.
The eleven-month volume includes 4,4 million tonnes of export cargo and 4,9 million tonnes of import cargo.
According to the port statistics, in November monthly throughput climbed to 840,000 tones. Exports totaled 390,000 tonnes, imports to 150,000 tonnes.
In November, the port passenger terminal handled 773,000 passengers. In January-November, passenger traffic at the Port of Helsinky rose 2% to 10.1 million people.
Port of Helsinki is a premier port of Finland and the largest passenger port, which handles 77 percent of all passenger traffic of the country. Helsinki ranks the third Baltic Sea passenger port. In H1, 2014, cargo throughput at the port increased by 4% to 5,1 million tonnes.
