Stroytransgaz opts out of Kerch Strait bridge project
Russian businessman Gennady Timchenko decided to pull out for the Kerch bridge construction project due high risks, TASS news agency reported citing Mr. Timchenko.
"This is a very difficult project for us. I am not sure we can handle it. We wouldn't want to incur reputational risks", the businessman was quoted as saying.
Timchenko said that the decision was made after careful analysis of all the risks in the project implementation.
Earlier reports said that the Russian government plans to handpick the sole contractor by the end of the year for the contract for construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait. The project is worth RUB 228 billion. The bridge is scheduled for completion and commissioning in 2018.
