Aleksandr Galai was appointed the Rector of Moscow State Academy of Water Transport (MSAWT) from March 4, 2016. As Rosmorrechflot told IAA PortNews, the order was signed by Victor Olersky, Deputy Minister of Transport, Head of Rosmorrechflot.
The Academic Board of the Academy had anonymously proposed Aleksandr Galai to the post of Rector. Aleksandr Galai previously held the position of Acting Rector of MSAWT.
Aleksandr Galai is a Candidate of economic sciences. In 1981 he graduated from the Nautical School of Kaliningrad with specialization in marine navigation. In 1990, graduated from Kaliningrad Technical Institute of Fisheries with specialization in economics and organisation of food industry. Later passed additional education courses at Kaliningrad Institute of Direct Investments, Kaliningrad School of International Business, Tallinn School of Management, Russian Presidential Academy of Public Administration.
Aleksandr Galai started his career in 1981 as a navigator. Later held different positions at fishing and shipping companies, used to head coke gasworks of Kaliningrad, Western Shipping Company and Sudoremont-Zapad LLC.
