ABP says it has invested £300,000 worth of equipment at two of its East Anglian ports with the recent purchase of seven new forklift trucks.
The new Linde H50D EVO forklift trucks, which have been rolled out across ABP’s Ipswich and King’s Lynn ports, are the latest purchase in the company’s commitment to equipping its ports with modern technology and machinery.
They will be used in a variety of activities such as loading bricks, timber, steel and general cargo, as part of ongoing service improvements for ABP’s East Anglian customers.
East Anglia Port Manager Alastair MacFarlane said: “We selected these forklift trucks because we wanted to equip our ports with machinery that not only has a lower fuel consumption, making it a greener choice, but provides improved driver comfort and aids.”
The Linde forklift trucks are designed with an eco-mode power setting efficiency and a diesel particulate filter which reduces emissions.
Director Short Sea Ports, Andrew Harston, said: “ABP’s ongoing equipment renewal programme is a key part of our commitment to continuously improve the operations and services that we provide to our customers.
“These new forklift trucks represent another £300,000 for improvements to the Ports of Ipswich and King’s Lynn this year.”
Four of the machines will be located in Ipswich, and the remaining three will be based in King’s Lynn.
