Within the period of January – March of 2016 Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling turnover increased by 10,8 pct. to 10,02 mln tn, i.e. more by 978,5 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period of 2015.
It is absolutely the best cargo handling result of the I st quarter – more by 6,5 pct. or by 615,8 thou. tn comparing with the previously set record (9,41 mln tn were handled in the Ist quarter of 2013). According to the rankings of cargo throughput increase estimated in tons (978,5 thou. tn) the Seaport of Klaipeda occupies the 1-st standing in the list of the Eastern coast Baltic Seaports and the 2-nd standing according to cargo throughput increase estimated in percent (10,8 pct).
Year-on-year changes of overall turnover according to cargo types:
General cargo – 3 045,6 thou tn were handled, +7,7 pct. or +217,2 thou. tn yoy;
Liquid cargo – 3 216,6 thou. tn were handled, +36,3 pct. or +856,9 thou. tn yoy;
Dry and bulk cargo – 3 758,8 thou. tn were handled, -2,5 pct. or -95,7 thou. tn yoy.
1 625 vessels were reported to call Klaipeda Seaport in January – March of 2016, i.e. more by 8,4 pct. or by 126 vessels comparing with January - March of 2015. The Seaport received 32 366 passengers, i.e. more by 1,7 pct. or by 529 passengers.
