Throughput of port Tallinn (Estonia) down 15.5% to 8.8 mln t in Jan-May'16
In January-May 2016, the Port of Tallinn(Estonia) handled 8.8 mln t of cargo (-15.5%, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, transshipment of containers and liquid bulk cargo dropped by 6.4% (81,215 TEUs) and 30.2% (4.55 mln t) accordingly.
Transshipment of loose bulk cargo increased by 29.3% (1.36 mln t), Ro-Ro – by 5.2% (1.88 mln t).
In January-May 2016, the ports of Tallinna Sadam were visited by 3.54 mln passengers (+6%, year-on-year).
Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2014 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 22.44 million tonnes.
