Colombo Port JCT accommodates two container ships

For the first time the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) accommodated two container ships which were of 685 meter length. The two ships Ningbo Express and MSC Luciana belonging to the MSC shipping company called on Colombo Port JCT 3 - 4 jetties simultaneously to obtain sentential serveries.

The JCT container terminal capacity is only 660 meters but the two ships put together was 685 meters. However the staff managed to accommodate both ships and provide satisfactory service,” said Sri Lanka Port Authority, Director Operations, Jayantha Perera.

Mediterranean Shipping Company and Hapag Lloyd were the local agents for these two ships. MSC Luciana called on Colombo from Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Port and would sail to India while Ningbo Express will sail to U. S. East harbor via Suez Canal.
