In January-September 2016, the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) handled 15.59 mln t of cargo (-7.8%, year-on-year). According to the Port Authorities, transshipment of containers dropped by 6.6% to 148,800 TEUs.
Transshipment of loose bulk cargo increased by 30.3% to 2.72 mln t, general cargo – down 21.2% to 7.82 mln t, consolidated cargo – down 1.5% to 430,000 t, Ro-Ro cargo – up 5% to 3.41 mln t.
Passenger throughput grew by 4.3% to 7.88 mln including 6.5 mln passengers of Tallinn-Helsinki line and 121,500 passengers of Stokholm-Tallinn-Saint-Petersburg line (+25.7%).
The number of cargo vessels’ calls increased by 4.7% to 1,138 units, passenger ships – up 3.8% to 4,270 calls.
Port of Tallinn ranks fourth largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2015 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 22.44 million tonnes.
