The oil product reloading volumes of KN (AB Klaipėdos nafta) totalled 666,000 tonnes in September, which is a 67.8 % increase compared with the same month of last year, KN says in a press release.
A strong growth in KN ‘s product reloading volumes was recorded in September. This has resulted from a stable cooperation relationship with transit oil product suppliers and intense cargo turnover at the company’s tank truck site. At present, the reloading volumes of 2017 are not far from the last year ‘s record results.
‘As part of KN‘s strategy, we seek to manage the risks of our business portfolio and to offer our business partners optimal solutions based on economic logic and quality of services. This is why our business partners choose Klaipėda Seaport and, specifically, KN’s oil terminals for their product handling operations’, says Mindaugas Jusius, CEO of AB Klaipėdos nafta.
Since the beginning of the year, almost 5.22 million tonnes of oil products were reloaded to the company’s storage tanks, which is a 10.1 % decrease year-on-year (same period of 2016: 5.81 m t). According to the CEO, after a fall in the reloading volumes in the last six months of 2016, it was only in the spring of this year that a recovery was observed. This was due to both geopolitical factors and diversification of cargo sources.
Increased oil products’ handling has led to a 68 % increase in income: it is estimated that EUR 3.2 million was earned by Subačius and Klaipėda oil terminals, compared with EUR 1.9 m last year. Since the beginning of this year, these terminals have generated a sales income of EUR 28.1 m (- 6.5% year-on-year).
LNG terminal’s operations have reached record volumes in August when nearly 1.9 m MWH of natural gas was regasified and supplied to the natural gas transmission system. The regasification volume in September 2016 was 1.1 m MWh. Since the beginning of the year, regasification and reload volumes total 10.6 MWh – which is less than last year when 12.2 m MWH of natural gas were regasified and reload by the terminal. Smaller capacities booked by the terminal users is the reason for reduced flows this year.
‘This September is special by both the recovery of handling operations at the terminals and the record number of LNG carriers serviced by the LNG terminal. In September, three large-scale LNG carriers and one small-scale bunkering carrier visited Klaipėda Seaport. The LNG terminal worked at its maximum 90 % capacity, which has resulted a significant increase in regasification volumes’, says Mindaugas Jusius.
It is estimated that the LNG terminal has generated income of EUR 5.6 m in September (same period of 2016: EUR 5.5 m). During the nine months of this year the income has totalled EUR 51.7 m, which is a year-on-year increase of 2.4 %. Income of the LNG terminal consists of the share of the security component earmarked for compensating for the terminal’s operating costs as determined by the LNG funds manager plus revenues from LNG regasification and transfer.
