Transit navigation starts at lower Don and Azov-and-Don canal

Transit navigation has started at lower Don and Azov-and-Don canal, Interfax reports according to Gudok.ru. State Basin department of Azov-and-Don waterways says the "guaranteed depth" of 3.4 meters is ensured at the ship channel. The flood peak in Tsimlyanski water reservoir was registered on March 26-27. Thus water level is currently sufficient for vessels. The area of responsibility of the State Basin department of Azov-and-Don waterways covers the Don-river from Tsimlyanski water reservoir to the Sea of Azov (excluding Konstantinovski and Nikolayevski hydraulic complexes), as well as Asov-and-Don canal (39.3 km) in the north-east part of the Taganrog Bay in the Sea of Azov. Besides, it is responsible for navigation in at Severski Donets and Manych rivers (Don tributaries). Total length of waterways within department’s competence of makes 800 kilometers.
