The Primorsky Territory Administration has finished work on preparing a request for creation of a special economic area in the Vostochniy port in Nakhodka. As the First Vice-Governor Alexander KOSTENKO said, the request had been prepared and would be sent to the RF Government within the due period. The best experts of Primorye were involved in preparing the request, the Primorsky Territory Administration reports.
The port special economic area is being created in accordance with the October 2007 changes in the federal law on special economic areas. The new legislation provides for tax benefits, subsidies from the government, custom duty preferences, and simplification of some administrative procedures.
Creation of a special economic area in the Vostochniy port will improve the transport-logistic infrastructure of the Primorsky Territory. Investments in the region's port infrastructure are expected to increase if such an area is created. The attractiveness of the transport system of the whole Far East for foreign entities will rise. This will improve the competitive ability of Primorye ports in the struggle for cargo traffic.
