ICTSI beats Maersk to Mindanao terminal project

Philippines’ International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) beat five other bidders, including Maersk Lines, to secure the much-coveted concession contract for the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), which Razon chairs, has told the Philippine Stock Exchange that it had won the right to operate MCT over five other bidders, including one of the world's biggest shipping companies, Maersk Lines.
Under the deal with Phividec Industrial Authority (PIA), ICTSI will operate and manage MCT, one of the biggest and most advanced terminal ports in Mindanao, for 25 years. The bidding was Phividec's third attempt to privatise MCT after two failed bids.
With a capacity of more than 2.7 million metric tonnes, MCT was designed to handle cargo from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Meanwhile, work resumed at the strike-hit Gydnia port in Poland after ICTSI reached a compromise with workers on a salary rise. No details of the deal were given.
