Japan logistics companies unite for Hong Kong express service

Tokyo-based logistics companies Nippon Express and Kintetsu World Express and carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) have joined forces to provide express delivery services this summer from Japan to Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The three have set up a joint venture company called All Express Corporation in which ANA has a 36.38 percent stake and Nippon Express and Kintetsu World Express a 30.38 percent stake each. Forwarding companies MOL Logistics and Yusen Air & Sea Service also have a 1.43 percent stake each.
The new service will operate under the brand name ALLEX. The company is headed by Tsugumichi Yoshitomi of ANA, and is based at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
In future, ALLEX's services will be gradually extended to other cities in Asia by making use of ANA's Okinawa-based cargo networkm, which starts operations in the autumn of 2009.
