CEVA has been awarded a five-year contract with MAN and a multi-year contract with Bugaboo; CEVA will build two new solar-powered warehouses, and its One Logic project is helping to reduce carbon emissions on Italian roads.
CEVA Logistics has signed a five-year agreement for distributing MAN Nutzfahrzeuge’s spare parts in Italy, Germany and the UK.
CEVA will provide receiving, storage, forwarding and distribution services to approximately 150 dealers throughout Italy according to two service types: the first will involve next-day delivery overnight service, and the second will involve restocking services at the same delivery points.
CEVA has set up a new MAN Local Distribution Centre (LDC) at the Bologna Interporto to service the whole country.
To facilitate the flow of information and standardisation, a single information system will be used for Italy, Germany and the UK, and will be developed and personalised especially for MAN.
CEVA has partnered with MAN in Germany since 2007. From this month, activities will be launched in Italy, and the project is due to go live in the UK in September - alongside existing UK operations for MAN.
CEVA Logistics has signed a multi-year contract with Bugaboo International, producer of baby pushchairs, car seats and accessories.
The CEVA Benelux site in Wijchen, The Netherlands, will become the new European Distribution Centre and act as the global ‘control tower’ to organise Bugaboo’s intercontinental logistics activities. CEVA provides warehousing, transport & freight management, spare parts logistics and value-added services.
The Italian office of CEVA Logistics will build two new warehouses that will run on photovoltaic panels to produce energy. The panels allow the sun’s energy to be directly harnessed without the need for further emissions or fuel. Consequently, the panels don’t pollute, they demand very little upkeep, they last longer and are recyclable.
The two warehouses - with a combined space of 25,000 m2 and the option for expansion - will be located in San Pietro Mosezzo and Pognano, and are expected to be ready early next year.
€4 million has been invested in building each warehouse, and 8,000 metres of solar panels are planned for each one, with the capacity to produce more than one megawatt of power - double what the warehouse requires. The additional energy will be transferred to the national grid.
CEVA Logistics is celebrating the success of the implementation of the One Logic project to its transport sector.
The key element of the One Logic policy is to migrate from road transport to intermodal transport (rail and sea) whilst maintaining service levels and delivery times agreed with receivers.
One Logic was launched for CEVA transport services in 2007, and is currently implemented on 601155314464f transportation and set to reach 100 2083849578thin the new few months.
Italy has the highest road traffic in Europe and the second highest in the world, with 701652054164f all transport moving on the country’s roads.
According to Gianfranco Sgro, CEO and MD of CEVA Logistics for South Europe, Middle East & Africa, Italy lags behind in terms of infrastructure and it will take many years before the country can catch up from an environmental perspective.
