In the first quarter of 2008, Commercial seaport of Mariupol decreased its throughput by 1.23 million tonnes, year-on-year, to 2.77 million tonnes, the port’s press center reports. In March the port increased its throughput by 8.7%, year-on-year, to 1.5 million tonnes. Transshipment of metal amounted to 673,200 tonnes (44.8% of total volume), coal and coke - 397,900 tonnes (26.5%), clay - 219,100 tonnes (14.6%), sulfur - 122,800 tonnes (8.2%), chemical cargo - 4,100 tonnes (0.3%), grain - 14,500 (1%), other cargo - 70,300 tonnes (4.7%).
