Transit navigation at Volga-Baltic waterway is to start in late April- early May 2008, Volga-Baltic State Basin Department of waterways and navigation reports. At night April 9 -10 the navigation was started at the Neva river 20 day ahead of schedule due to early clearance of ice.
Summer navigation of 2008 was opened in Russia on March 30 at the sector between Rostov-on-Don and Kochetkovski complex.
