Taiwan-listed Wan Hai Lines Ltd, the largest container transportation company in term of market share in Asian lines, said that net profit more than doubled last year thanks to higher shipping freights. Net income for the fiscal year of 2007 climbed to NTD 6.28 billion or NTD 3.05 apiece, up from NTD 3.11 billion or NTD 1.52 apiece, a year earlier, said the company in a statement with the Taiwan Stock Exchange on Thursday. Consolidated revenue soared 16% year-on-year to NTD 60.89 billion, with operating profitability hitting 10.35%, up 4.22 percentage points from the previous year.
Founded in 1965, Wan Hai has set up complete networks with subsidiaries and agents all over Asia's major cities and ports.
